Extension Trip to Fez, Morocco

Sightseeing and Cameraderie!

Day 1 – Tuesday, April1: Depart Marrakesh; Explore Fez

We will depart Yes, We Camp's (in the Agafay Desert) after a leisurely breakfast and drive back to Marrakesh.  As a group, we'll fly to Fez from Marrakesh with our guide, Fouad, **via Ryan Air or Air Arabia and reconvene at the airport in Fez.  From there we'll head to our small, intimate Riad in the old city of Fez to check in and rest before heading out to explore.  We'll find a cozy place to eat dinner together, or if you prefer to find your own way,  

we'll offer some local restuarants to explore.

Day 2 - Wednesday, April 2:  Explore Fez

We'll continue to explore the city with our guide, Fouad.  We'll visit sites like the Fez Medina (a Unesco World Heritage site) and its famous Bab Boujloud gate, the beautiful Bou Inania Madrasa and Al Atterine Madrasa learning centers (exquisite examples of traditional Moroccan architecture,) the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts, and the ruins of the Marinid Tombs - the best place to watch the sunset.

Day 3 – Thursday, April 3: Day Trip Outside of Fez

On our last day, we'll travel to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a Unesco World Heritage sight outside of the city that has withstood the test of time.  An hour and half drive from Fez, Volubilis was the site of Roman occupation from 40 - 285 AD, as well as a Berber city later in time.;  the archeological site is in remarkably good condition and is a well-preserved example of a small Roman city.   We'll head back to the city after lunch nearby and, time permitting, continue to explore Fez during the afternoon.  For those that are interested in seeing the Blue City of Chefchouen, we can arrange a tour.

 

Day 4 – Friday, April 4: Depart Fez

​After breakfast, we'll head to the airport for flights back to Marrakesh and other points to return home.
